Heroin Research Report cover

Due to growing public concern about heroin and its potentially devastating effects, the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) has updated its online Heroin Research Report.  This Report offers the most current data on heroin use and its consequences as well as treatment options for heroin use disorders.

NIDA has also posted updated regional trends for heroin and other drugs of abuse, as reported by its Community Epidemiology Work Group (CEWG), a network of researchers that provides ongoing community-level surveillance of drug abuse in major cities.  For more on heroin from the CEWG, check out this video: http://youtu.be/8DMlMa-uubI.

For information on abuse of prescription opioids, which can lead to heroin addiction, see www.drugabuse.gov/publications/research-reports/prescription-drugs.
